Gravity Well Brewing Co

Exotic Matter is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an intense hop profile driven by modern tropical and citrus cues. The sensory experience begins with a high-intensity aroma of ripe mango, passionfruit, and bright tangerine, supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone. On the palate, the hop-forward character translates into complex layers of stone fruit and resinous pine, balanced by a firm yet smooth bitterness. The fermentation is exceptionally clean, leading to a dry and crisp finish that avoids the heavy sweetness often associated with higher-gravity ales. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a sophisticated depth to this medium-bodied and refreshing beer.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves substantial lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical fruit (passionfruit, mango), citrus zest, and a hint of resin. Malt character is low and neutral, presenting as a soft, grainy sweetness. Very low fruity esters.

Taste. Strong hop flavors of apricot and grapefruit are met with a moderately high, clean bitterness that lacks harshness. The malt is soft and unobtrusive, acting as a light, crackery stage for the hops. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering, pleasant hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
