This Double IPA presents a vibrant sensory profile driven by a foundational grist of Wheat, Pilsner, and Vienna malts. The aroma is dominated by a heavy-handed blend of Strata, Cascade Cryo, and Krush hops, delivering intense notes of tropical mango and papaya alongside ripe melon. A subtle, dank resinous quality from the Strata anchors the brighter citrus accents. On the palate, a firm bitterness balances the fruit-forward character, leading to a clean, dry finish. Despite its strength, the alcohol remains well-integrated, providing a smooth warmth that complements the complex, layered hop profile without overshadowing the soft malt backbone.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (SRM 7-10); thick, white, persistent head with moderate lacing; slight haze is present from the high dry-hopping rates.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring mango, papaya, and ripe cantaloupe. Supporting notes of grapefruit citrus and a distinct, dank resinous character. The malt is clean and grainy with a very low toasted note in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-dominant with flavors of tropical mango and citrus zest. A moderately high hop bitterness provides structure without being harsh or astringent. Low bready malt flavor supports the hops through a medium-dry, clean finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture; moderate carbonation levels. A restrained and well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but remains pleasant and smooth on the throat.
