Godog Selvatico IGA presents a sophisticated marriage between rustic ale and the aromatic intensity of the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba grape must. This Italian Grape Ale offers a vibrant, wine-like elegance, characterized by the grape’s signature floral bouquet of roses and violets layered over deep notes of forest berries. The underlying fermentation reveals a subtle "selvatico" or wild complexity, with whispers of earthy funk that ground the vibrant fruit. At 7.8% ABV, it provides a gentle warmth that enhances the vinous character, finishing with a crisp, slightly acidic edge that provides a refreshing, dry conclusion to a complex sensory journey.
Appearance. Luminous ruby-copper with a faint pinkish tint in the fine-beaded, off-white head. Generally clear with a subtle, natural haze; head retention is medium-low, leaving delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity of aromatic red grape must, featuring distinct floral notes of rose and violet alongside macerated blackberries. Low bready malt supports a complex fermentation profile that introduces mild earthy, barnyard funk. Hop aroma is virtually absent, allowing the vinous esters to dominate.
Taste. A prominent vinous impression leads with flavors of dark cherry and wild strawberry. The malt is soft and neutral, providing a light bready base. Hop bitterness is very low, balanced instead by a refreshing, light acidity and subtle "selvatico" notes of damp earth. The finish is dry and lingering, with a clean grape-skin tannin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a lively, medium-high carbonation that creates a spritzy effect. A gentle alcoholic warmth is present, reflecting its strength without being solventy. Finishes with a slight, pleasant astringency akin to a dry red wine.
