Imperial IPA 8 º
This Double IPA radiates an intense, modern sensory profile driven by the concentrated impact of Southern Cross Hop Kief and Nelson hops. Aromas of crushed white grapes, gooseberry, and zesty lemon peel surge from the glass, supported by a subtle, cracker-like malt base. The palate is a saturated tropical experience, where the Nelson-driven vinous notes of passionfruit and Sauvignon Blanc mingle with the resinous pine and citrus brightness of Southern Cross. Despite its hazy appearance and 8% strength, the beer maintains a remarkably soft mouthfeel and a dry finish, leaving a lingering, vibrant bitterness that emphasizes its hop-forward, modern identity.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange with a dense, persistent off-white head and excellent lacing. Distinctive hazy to opaque clarity characteristic of modern hop-saturated styles.
Aroma. High intensity hop bouquet. Prominent Nelson notes of gooseberry, white wine, and passionfruit, layered with Southern Cross lemon zest and a hint of resinous pine. Minimal neutral, grainy malt presence and clean fermentation with very low esters.
Taste. Bold and complex hop flavor featuring intense tropical fruit and vinous grape skins. Nelson provides a distinct gooseberry character, while Southern Cross adds a sharp citrus punch and piney resin. Firm but smooth bitterness provides structure against a soft, crackery malt backdrop. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp lift. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.
