Forge is an approachable Ordinary Bitter that balances traditional British sessionability with a modern hop profile. At its core, a foundation of bready and biscuity malts provides a clean, toasted canvas for the senses. This base is enlivened by the purposeful dry-hopping of Citra and Mosaic hops, which introduce bright layers of citrus zest and subtle tropical fruit notes. Despite these vibrant hop characteristics, the beer remains firmly rooted in its style, offering a restrained ester profile and a crisp, decidedly bitter finish. It is a light-bodied, highly drinkable ale where the delicate malt sweetness and resinous hop depth find a perfect, low-gravity equilibrium.
Appearance. Pale amber to light copper color (10–14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Displays a low to moderate off-white head with fair retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring notes of toasted bread and biscuit. The Citra and Mosaic hops contribute a distinct but controlled aroma of grapefruit, mango, and light pine. Low fruity esters are present, and diacetyl is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is of clean, bready malt followed immediately by a medium-high bitterness. Hop flavors of citrus and berry from the Citra and Mosaic additions are prominent but do not mask the biscuity malt core. The finish is quite dry and crisp with a lingering, earthy bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with low to moderate carbonation. Very smooth with no alcohol warmth or astringency, emphasizing high drinkability.
