Toffee Marauder is an indulgent English Barley Wine that leans into its decadent pastry inspirations. The sensory experience is anchored by a massive foundation of British pale ale and crystal malts, yielding layered flavors of toasted biscuit and rich, sticky toffee. The addition of maple syrup introduces a distinct woody sweetness that complements the beer's naturally high ester profile of dried plums and raisins. At 11% ABV, it provides a sophisticated, rounded warmth rather than a sharp burn. Earthy English hops offer a subtle counterpoint to the luscious malt, resulting in a full-bodied, velvety sipper with a complex, vinous, and lingering finish.

Appearance. Deep copper to dark mahogany in color (18-22 SRM) with brilliant clarity and ruby highlights. It pours with a low, creamy, off-white head that has modest retention, leaving behind viscous legs on the glass surface.

Aroma. High intensity with a dominant rich maltiness featuring heavy toffee, caramel, and bready notes. The maple syrup contributes a distinct caramelized, woody sweetness. Moderate esters of dark dried fruits like dates and figs are present, alongside a faint, earthy English hop character and a soft, vinous alcohol presence.

Taste. A lush, multi-layered malt sweetness leads the palate, dominated by toffee, biscuit, and maple syrup. Moderate dark fruit flavors emerge in the mid-palate. Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer's weight. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is prominent but lacks any harsh or fusel edges.

A megnevezés megtévesztő lehet, de az árpabor (barley wine) és búzabor (wheat wine) egy hosszú érlelésű, magas alkoholfokkal 8,5 - 12,2 % rendelkező sörtípus. Ebben a desszertsörnek is nevezett típusban a karamellmalátás édesség mindig domináns, a keserűség lehet magasabb (amerikai típus) illetve visszahúzódó, szinte alig észrevehető (angol típus). Gyakori a mazsolás, szőlős ízérzet. Színvilága a borostyán és mély vöröstől egészen a sötétbarnáig terjedhet. Az idő kimondottan jót tesz ezeknek a stílusoknak valamint rendkívül gyakori a hordóérlelés ezeknél a tételeknél. Legtöbbször vörösboros, rumos, whiskey hordókat választanak a főzdék, mivel jól kiegészítik az egyébként is égetett szeszes jegyekkel bíró alapsört.
