This intriguing hybrid unites the plush, tropical intensity of a Hazy Double IPA with the complex, lactic tartness of a foeder-aged wild ale. Vivid aromatics of zesty Motueka, citrus-forward Citra, and berry-inflected Mosaic are amplified by Cryo Pop, creating a sensory explosion of ripe pineapple, guava, and ruby grapefruit. The profile is defined by a striking sweet-and-sour tension, where the velvety malt backbone of the base beer meets the mouth-watering acidity of the Wild Workshop component. It is a modern Wild Specialty Beer that balances hop-derived juice with a clean, wood-kissed funk and remarkable aromatic depth.
Appearance. Glowing deep gold to pale amber with a persistent, dense white head that leaves significant lacing. Distinctly hazy with a lush, opaque appearance typical of New England influences.
Aroma. High intensity. Punchy tropical notes of crushed pineapple, passion fruit, and guava lead, driven by Motueka and Mosaic. Subtle funky undertones of damp oak, lemon zest, and a clean lactic tartness emerge from the foeder-aged wild component, complemented by the intense grapefruit and stone fruit notes of Citra and Cryo Pop.
Taste. An immediate interplay of juicy sweetness and sharp acidity. Rich flavors of mango and citrus oil are cut by a bright, tart grapefruit finish. The hop bitterness is low, allowing the lactic sourness to provide the primary structure. Subtle oak tannins and a whisper of stone fruit esters from the wild fermentation add depth to the lingering pineapple aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, creamy texture from the hazy base. Carbonation is moderate to high, enhancing the perceived tartness. A gentle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated into the acidic, fruit-forward profile.
