Garage Project Trip Hop

This Strong Bitter offers a modern New Zealand interpretation of a classic style, pouring a rich amber-red. A complex malt bill of Pale, Vienna, Carahelles, and Caraaroma creates a sturdy, toasty foundation with deep caramel undertones. This serves as the stage for a lavish triple-hop addition of Pacifica, Motueka, and Riwaka varieties. The sensory profile is redolent of the Nelson hop fields, delivering high-intensity notes of resin, lime zest, and tropical fruit. While it caters to resin heads with a firm, puckering bitterness, the bready depth of the malts ensures the beer remains balanced and remarkably easy-drinking with a clean, lingering finish.
Appearance. Rich amber to deep red (approx. 15 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a moderate, off-white head that demonstrates good retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderately high intensity. Dominant hop character featuring pungent resin, fresh lime, and tropical fruit esters. Supporting malt aromas of toasted biscuit, light toffee, and a hint of nutty grain. Low fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a firm hop bite followed by a layered malt sweetness. Flavors of toasted bread and caramel from the specialty malts are balanced by vibrant citrus and earthy resin. Bitterness is firm and noticeable (approx. 45-50 IBU) but integrated. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering citrus pucker and clean malt aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a refreshing lift. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being distracting.

WHAT IS IT?

Garage Project loves NZ hops. How much? Here's how much. Triple hopped with Pacifica, Motueka, and Riwaka in increasingly lavish quantities throughout the boil, Trip Hop's bitter but balanced on a generous malt base. Rich amber red and redolent of the Nelson hop fields.

Think easy drinking for resin heads and pucker up.

TASTING NOTES

Very hoppy for an ESB - Rich malty base meets big hop profile. Dubbed a new world ESB for its use of German malts, NZ hops, and American Yeast.
