Pilsner 4 º
This New Zealand Pilsner celebrates its local terroir with a vibrant, hop-forward profile led by Nelson Sauvin and Riwaka. Poured with brilliant clarity, it releases expressive aromatics of white wine grapes, gooseberry, and crushed lime, underpinned by a clean, bready base of sun-ripened Canterbury barley. Southern Cross hops contribute a delicate bitterness that balances the soft, medium-light body. The palate is crisp yet smooth, showing tropical melon notes and a light grassy finish. Highly sessionable at 4% ABV, it maintains a beautifully balanced, clean fermentation profile that allows the distinctive Kiwi hop character to shine without harshness.
Appearance. Straw to pale yellow (2-4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring gooseberry, passionfruit, and crushed lime. Supporting notes of bready, crackery malt from the Canterbury barley. Clean, neutral fermentation profile with no discernible esters or sulfur.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of tropical fruit, white wine, and citrus. The malt flavor is bready and slightly grainy, providing a solid support for the medium hop bitterness. Finish is dry and clean with a lingering note of citrus zest and fresh grass. No harshness or mineral bite.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a notably soft, smooth texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing, prickly sensation. No alcohol warmth; crisp and clean.

When we started out we were tiny. Garage Project wasn't even micro brewing… it was a truly nano brewery.
After nine years of working in breweries with equipment 100 times bigger it was quite a change to downsize to a fifty litre brew kit. But what we lacked in size we more than made up for in agility and the ability to experiment.
When you’re brewing on such a small scale you can afford to take risks. That suited us. We wanted to try something new.
Five years have passed and we’ve grown, but that same ethos still shapes how we do things at the Garage. Whether we’re brewing 50 litres or 2000, we’re still here to take some risks, to have a bit of fun and to try something new.
Way back in the day, when we were just starting out, we wrote a little blurb about each other to shed some light on who we are, and what lead us down the path of starting a brewery in Wellington, (if you’ve ever written your own bio, you’ll know how hard it can be!).
