Garage Project Tiny But Mighty

Alcohol Free 0.5 º
Tiny But Mighty delivers a surprisingly robust sensory experience for a non-alcoholic American Pale Ale. This hazy pour bursts with vibrant aromas of squeezed citrus and ripe tropical fruit, reflecting a modern New World hop profile. Despite its low gravity, the quasi-yeast fermentation ensures a clean, crisp backdrop that allows the hop character to shine without being overshadowed by the heavy wort-like sweetness often found in alcohol-free beers. The palate is light yet satisfying, offering a soft mouthfeel and a firm, refreshing bitterness that lingers pleasantly, proving that full flavor does not require high alcohol content.
Appearance. Pale straw to golden (3-5 SRM). Opaque with a persistent, fine-beaded white head and consistent lacing. Distinctly hazy.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, and crushed pine. Low grainy, crackery maltiness supports the hop presentation. Clean fermentation profile with no significant yeast esters or DMS.
Taste. Immediate citrus zest and tropical fruit flavors. Moderate bitterness provides structure against a light, bready malt base. Clean, dry finish with a lingering, crisp hop presence that avoids harshness or vegetable notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, slightly creamy texture from the hazy profile. Moderate to high carbonation. No alcohol warmth. Overall smooth and refreshing without astringency.

Hazy non alcoholic beer.
Pete + the brew team have been trying to create a 0% beer for a long time - years. Along the way, they accidentally stumbled onto a way to make hard seltzer, now known as Dirty Water, when they were trialling an osmosis process. Tiny is fermented using a quasi-yeast that produces no alcohol as a by-product, like normal yeast would. In order to be classified as 0%, you need to be under 0.05% abv in reality - it's tight!

Brewed in Wellington, New Zealand

The Garage Project is Pete Gillespie, Jos Ruffell, and Ian Gillespie.

When we started out we were tiny. Garage Project wasn't even micro brewing… it was a truly nano brewery.

After nine years of working in breweries with equipment 100 times bigger it was quite a change to downsize to a fifty litre brew kit. But what we lacked in size we more than made up for in agility and the ability to experiment.

When you’re brewing on such a small scale you can afford to take risks. That suited us. We wanted to try something new.

Five years have passed and we’ve grown, but that same ethos still shapes how we do things at the Garage. Whether we’re brewing 50 litres or 2000, we’re still here to take some risks, to have a bit of fun and to try something new.

Way back in the day, when we were just starting out, we wrote a little blurb about each other to shed some light on who we are, and what lead us down the path of starting a brewery in Wellington, (if you’ve ever written your own bio, you’ll know how hard it can be!).
