Susegad is a vibrant and refreshing interpretation of a classic Witbier, drawing inspiration from the relaxed spirit of Goa. This hazy, pale straw-colored ale opens with an inviting aroma of bready wheat and exotic Goan spices, layered over a distinct sweet and sour fruitiness from the infusion of kokum. The palate is defined by a delicate, refreshing tartness that elevates the traditional citrus and coriander profile. Kokum lends a unique dried plum character that pairs harmoniously with a specialized spice blend, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It is a light-bodied, effervescent, and deeply aromatic sensory journey that balances traditional Belgian roots with Indian culinary flair.
Appearance. Pale straw color with a milky, whitish-yellow haze. Displays a dense, white, moussy head with excellent retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring bready and grainy wheat maltiness. Distinctive sweet and sour fruit notes of dried plum arise from the kokum, complemented by a complex, aromatic Goan spice blend. Subtle zesty citrus and light floral esters round out the profile.
Taste. Initial impression is crisp and refreshingly tart. Bready, grainy malt provides a soft base for zesty citrus and exotic spice flavors. The kokum adds a unique sweet-tart fruit dimension reminiscent of plum skin. Hop bitterness is low, allowing the spice and fruit character to lead. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering spicy-fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the wheat. High carbonation provides a lively, effervescent sparkle. Refreshing and crisp with no alcohol warmth or astringency.
