Garage Project’s Screaming Goat is a masterclass in German-style brewing where the malt profile takes center stage with a distinctive swagger. This Dunkles Bock pours a stunning mahogany with deep garnet highlights, offering an aroma rich in bready Munich and Vienna malts. On the palate, expect a complex maltiness characterized by toasted hazelnut and warm biscuit notes, driven by deep Maillard products. Despite its 6.5% ABV, the beer remains incredibly balanced and smooth, with European hops providing just enough bitterness to prevent cloying sweetness. The result is a clean, well-attenuated dark lager that emphasizes rich, toasty depth while keeping the hop character in the back seat.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with attractive garnet highlights (14-22 SRM). It features excellent clarity and a large, creamy, persistent off-white head.

Aroma. Medium-high intensity with a rich, bready-malty focus. Pronounced Maillard products and toasty overtones dominate. Virtually no hop aroma is present. The fermentation profile is clean, though a very subtle dark fruit character is detectable.

Taste. The initial impression is one of rich, complex maltiness dominated by toasty Maillard products, toasted hazelnut, and biscuit. Malt sweetness is present but balanced by a low to moderate hop bitterness that ensures a clean, well-attenuated finish without being cloying. No roasted or burnt flavors are present, and hop flavor is absent.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to moderately low. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated and never harsh or astringent.
