This elegant lager performs a delicate pas de deux between continental tradition and New World innovation. A base of premium German malts provides a foundational stage of toasted cracker and light honey, while the distinctive Nelson Sauvin hops introduce a sophisticated choreography of crushed gooseberry, white grape, and tropical fruit. The addition of champagne yeast elevates the performance, creating an exceptionally dry, crisp finish with tight, effervescent bubbles. Despite its elevated strength, it maintains the poise of a classic German Pils, balanced by a firm bitterness and a brilliant, pale gold clarity that shines like center stage under a spotlight.
Appearance. Pale gold (4 SRM), brilliant clarity with a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head and fine, rising carbonation bubbles.
Aroma. High intensity with prominent hop-derived notes of white wine, gooseberry, and passionfruit. A low but foundational grainy, doughy, and toasted cracker malt character is present. Clean fermentation profile with a subtle vinous edge from the champagne yeast.
Taste. Initial grainy malt sweetness is rapidly overtaken by a firm, clean hop bitterness. Flavors of tropical fruit and white wine dominate the mid-palate over a lean, doughy malt base. Finishes bone-dry and very crisp with a lingering, slightly mineral bitterness and a clean, refreshing aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with very high, spritzy carbonation that produces a champagne-like effervescence. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. Crisp and sharp without being harsh or astringent.
