Garage Project's Aro Noir is a commanding American Stout that captures the essence of a Wellington winter through a pitch-black pour and deep complexity. A sophisticated blend of four malts provides a robust foundation of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. This malt depth is expertly countered by the aggressive addition of Columbus and Summit hops, which impart a distinctive citric bitterness and resinous aroma. Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a large, persistent light-tan head that displays excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High roast intensity featuring notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and a hint of charcoal. This is balanced by a moderate hop aroma of resinous pine and bright citrus zest. Very low fruity esters are present, overshadowed by the clean, roasted malt profile.

Taste. Initial impression is of intense bittersweet chocolate and heavily roasted coffee beans.
