Morpheme is a lush, hop-forward Double IPA that leverages a massive 30% addition of Flaked Oats and Flaked Wheat to create a remarkably creamy, pale foundation. The sensory profile is dominated by a vibrant interplay of Riwaka and Bru-1 hops, delivering an explosive bouquet of tropical passionfruit and sweet pineapple. Hints of pink grapefruit and a distinct dankness emerge on the palate, amplified by the addition of Riwaka Hopkief for a heightened aromatic pop. Despite its soft, velvety texture enhanced by Chit malt, the finish remains clean with a firm bitterness, beautifully balancing the herbaceous and fruit-driven intensity.

Appearance. Pale gold (SRM 4-6) with a persistent, thick white head and excellent lacing. Though the style often demands clarity, the high proportion of flaked grains results in a characteristic hazy to opaque appearance.

Aroma. High intensity aroma defined by pungent tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent notes of passionfruit and ripe pineapple lead, supported by secondary layers of pink grapefruit and a resinous, dank herbaceousness. A low, clean, grainy malt presence sits quietly in the background.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit, specifically pineapple and passionfruit. The mid-palate reveals a more complex hop character with pink grapefruit zest and a subtle herbal edge. Bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth, without harshness. The malt provides a soft, bready support that prevents the hops from becoming overbearing. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering citrus and resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and smooth, velvety texture derived from the heavy use of oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but subtle. No hop-derived astringency.

Intercoastal pacific trip to get these hops, Riwaka from NZ bringing bags of tropical passionfruit notes, Pink grapefruit and a hint of dank. We reached out to our friends at Freestyle hops to get hold of some Riwaka Hopkief, which is a cryogenic liquid dry hop added later in the conditioning process to give that extra pop to a poppy beer. We paired Riwaka with Bru-1 from the USA, great hop for a Pineapple and herbaceous profile.

Han sido los compañeros perfectos para colaborar en una Creamy IPA: un 30% de copos de avena y copos de trigo, junto con un poco de malta Chit, aportan un cuerpo pálido y cremoso a esta IPA de 7% ABV.

Un viaje intercostero del Pacífico nos trajo estos lúpulos: Riwaka de Nueva Zelanda, cargado de notas tropicales de maracuyá, pomelo rosa y un sutil toque dank. Nos pusimos en contacto con nuestros amigos de Freestyle Hops para conseguir algo de Riwaka Hopkief, un lúpulo seco criogénico líquido añadido más tarde durante la maduración para aportar un extra de intensidad aromática. Combinamos Riwaka con Bru-1 de EE. UU., un lúpulo excelente para ofrecer matices de piña y hierbas frescas.

Ils ont été des partenaires parfaits pour collaborer sur une Creamy IPA, 30 % de flocons d'avoine et de blé avec un peu de Chit, qui donne un corps crémeux et pâle à cette IPA à 7 %. Nous avons fait un voyage inter-côtiers dans le Pacifique pour obtenir ces houblons, le Riwaka de Nouvelle-Zélande apportant des notes tropicales de fruit de la passion, de pamplemousse rose et une touche de moisi. Nous avons contacté nos amis de Freestyle Hops pour obtenir du Riwaka Hopkief, un houblon cryogénique liquide ajouté plus tard dans le processus de conditionnement pour donner un petit plus à une bière pop. Nous avons associé le Riwaka au Bru-1 des États-Unis, un excellent houblon pour un profil d'ananas et d'herbes aromatiques.
