Built on a clean base of German Pilsner malt and a touch of malted wheat, it presents a crystal straw yellow appearance. The hop profile is driven by a classic pairing of Simcoe and Mosaic, delivering a vibrant punch of resinous pine and sharp citrus. Engineered with a Portland-inspired water profile to enhance the crisp, bitter finish, this American IPA balances a subtle grainy maltiness with an assertive, refreshing hop bite that defines the style's classic West Coast roots.
Appearance. Crystal straw yellow in color. Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Prominent hop aroma featuring resinous pine and dank earthiness from Simcoe, complemented by the vibrant grapefruit and subtle blueberry notes of Mosaic. A low, clean, grainy-sweet malt scent from the German Pilsner malt provides a neutral background. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean bitterness that quickly gives way to intense hop flavors of citrus zest and pine needles. The malt backbone, derived from German Pilsner malt and malted wheat, is light and bready, serving to support the hop intensity. Bitterness is firm and snappy but remains non-astringent. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, enhancing the refreshing quality. Very light, smooth warmth is well-integrated with no harshness.
