Gamma Brewing Company

Modal is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures the collaborative spirit of Gamma and DEYA. A massive dry-hop addition of Citra and Azacca drives a dominant aroma of ripe mango and zesty grapefruit. The inclusion of Eclipse adds a distinct mandarin orange sweetness, while the addition of Zappa introduces complex layers of passionfruit and a subtle, spicy herbal nuance. Poured with a characteristic soft, opaque glow, this 6.0% ale features a creamy, pillowy mouthfeel that carries intense tropical flavors toward a smooth, low-bitterness finish. The result is a lush, juice-forward experience where vibrant fruit expression from the New World hops takes center stage.

Appearance. Straw to light orange in color (3-5 SRM). Distinctively hazy and nearly opaque with a healthy glow. Features a white, rocky, meringue-like head with excellent retention and lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring mango, pineapple, and citrus. Citra and Azacca provide heavy tropical notes, while Eclipse contributes mandarin and Zappa adds a unique passionfruit and spicy herbal undertone. Low grainy, bready malt in the background with neutral fermentation esters.

Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical fruit juice. High hop flavors of mango, grapefruit, and mandarin orange. Low, neutral bready malt provides a structural foundation. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is well-integrated and never harsh. Finishes smooth and off-dry with lingering tropical fruit notes.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and smooth texture. Medium carbonation. Very low alcohol warmth consistent with its 6% ABV. Devoid of any astringency or harsh hop bite.
