Hooked Up presents a modern evolution of the American Lager, bridging the gap between a crisp, clean profile and the assertive hop-forward character of a West Coast Pilsner. A brilliant, pale straw pour carries an aromatic punch of pineapple and stone fruit from Bru-1 and Ella, grounded by the dank, resinous notes of Columbus. On the palate, the neutral malt base allows Enigma to shine with hints of red currant and tropical fruit. It finishes exceptionally dry and refreshing, maintaining the high drinkability of a lager while delivering the complex, hop-centric intensity usually reserved for IPAs.
Appearance. Brilliant clarity, pale straw to medium yellow in color. Pours with a thick, frothy white head that shows moderate to good retention and leaves light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate-high hop intensity featuring distinct notes of pineapple, melon, and light resin. Bru-1 provides a tropical sweetness, while Columbus adds a subtle dankness. Very low grainy-sweet malt aroma. Clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is crisp and lean. Light grainy malt flavors are quickly overtaken by a vibrant hop profile of tropical fruit, spice, and grape-like notes from Enigma. Medium-low to medium bitterness provides more structure than a typical lager but remains balanced. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering citrus and floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that provides a prickly, refreshing carbonic bite. Very smooth with no harshness or astringency. Subtle alcohol warmth is well-integrated.
