Vinternatt is a comforting Winter Seasonal Beer crafted as a collaboration between Galway Bay and Bådin. Drawing inspiration from a Scotch ale, the complex grist of nine different malts yields a deep, evocative profile of chewy toffee, rich caramel, and subtle dark chocolate. The addition of orange peel and cinnamon provides a festive brightness and a spicy, woody undertone that perfectly complements the dark fruit notes of dates. While the hops remain supportive and unobtrusive, the beer’s malt-forward nature and holiday spices create a luxurious, warming experience reminiscent of traditional Christmas desserts, making it an ideal companion for a cold winter night.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown with ruby highlights (SRM 30–35). Thick, creamy, persistent tan head with excellent lacing. Generally clear, though appearing virtually opaque in the glass.

Aroma. High intensity, dominated by rich malt and festive spices. Strong aromas of toffee and caramel-laden bread crusts are punctuated by the distinct, warm woodiness of cinnamon and the bright, citrusy zing of orange peel. Secondary notes of dark dried fruits like dates and a hint of baker's chocolate emerge as it warms. Hop aroma is very low, with a clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial impression of sweet, decadent malt—caramel and toffee—immediately followed by a wash of spicy cinnamon and zesty orange peel. The base provides a robust foundation of dark fruit like dates and a whisper of chocolate. Bitterness is low, serving only to balance the malt sweetness without being assertive. The finish is long and satisfyingly sweet with lingering notes of holiday spice and dark sugar.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a rich, chewy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle that lifts the spices. Noticeable alcohol warmth that is smooth and well-integrated, contributing to the winter warmer character without harshness. No astringency.
