Dekadent Reality is an opulent, barrel-aged interpretation of a Baltic Porter, elevated to imperial strength through a collaboration between Galway Bay and Pühaste. Brewed with traditional German malts and fermented clean with lager yeast, it underwent a transformative 19-month maturation in bourbon barrels. This extended aging imparts luxurious waves of toasted coconut and sweet vanilla, beautifully integrated into a deep core of dark chocolate. Concentrated dark fruit notes of date syrup and sun-dried raisins provide a rich, vinous complexity. It strikes a masterful balance between intense barrel character and the smooth, malt-forward soul of a strong Baltic lager, delivering a bold, indulgent experience.

Appearance. Opaque dark brown with deep mahogany highlights. Topped by a thick, persistent, creamy tan-colored head with significant lacing. High viscosity is apparent in the slow-forming legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich malt base of dark chocolate, molasses, and deep toast. Prominent bourbon barrel notes of vanilla and coconut are layered over a complex ester profile of prunes, raisins, and dates. The alcohol is noticeable but smooth and well-aged.

Taste. Initial malt sweetness leads to layers of dark chocolate, date syrup, and licorice. The bourbon influence provides prominent vanilla and toasted coconut. A smooth, roasted flavor persists throughout, stopping well short of burnt. Bitterness is medium-low, just enough to balance the residual sweetness. The finish is long and warming with a lingering dried fruit and coffee aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a mouth-filling quality without being heavy. Alcohol warmth is significant and noticeable but integrated and comforting, with no astringency.
