Galotia Brewing’s Rat Race is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases a complex hop profile of Ekuanot, Sabro, and Cascade. The nose is greeted by an intense melange of tropical coconut, lime zest, and floral grapefruit, supported by a soft, bready foundation of dextrin wheat and oats. This pale, very hazy ale delivers a robust hop-forward experience where creamy tropical notes meet a firm, clean bitterness. At 8% ABV, a smooth alcohol warmth integrates seamlessly with the medium body, leading to a crisp, lingering finish that balances fruity intensity with a refined, dry character.

Appearance. Pale gold with a very hazy, almost opaque appearance. It supports a large, persistent white head with dense lacing and fine bubbles.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of coconut and tropical fruit from Sabro, citrus and herbal melon from Ekuanot, and a classic floral grapefruit finish from Cascade. The malt character is low and neutral, offering a clean, doughy background with a very light hint of clean ethanol.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavors, dominated by lime, tangerine, and coconut. The bitterness is high but smooth, balancing a soft, grainy malt profile provided by the wheat and oats. The fermentation is clean with low esters, finishing dry to medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture due to the addition of oats. Carbonation is moderate to high. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.
