A complex seven-malt grist bill provides a foundation of midnight-black depths, offering rich layers of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. This robust malt profile is pierced by four distinct stages of new world hop additions, which contribute a vibrant, fruity character unusual for the style. Expect notes of citrus and dark berries to dance over the roasted grain, while a firm bitterness balances the moderate sweetness. Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM) with a large, persistent head of light tan foam that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
