NEIPA - New England IPA 9.5 º
This massive Double IPA is a singular showcase of 100% Eggers Special Riwaka hops, delivered through an intensive triple dry-hopping process. The sensory profile is defined by the pungent and exotic character of the Riwaka variety, bursting with intense notes of pink grapefruit citrus, tropical passionfruit, and succulent ripe stonefruit. Despite the formidable 9.5% ABV, the beer maintains a focused, lean malt structure that ensures the complex New Zealand hop oils remain the primary focus. It represents a powerful, high-impact interpretation of the style, balancing a firm bitterness with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth and a clean, resinous finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper with a distinct, modern haze from the triple dry-hop additions. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring dominant Riwaka notes of pungent grapefruit, exotic tropical fruit, and nectarine. A supportive, neutral, cracker-like maltiness sits far in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a light, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of citrus zest, guava, and peach. Bitterness is high but refined, avoiding harshness. A low, clean malt character provides a soft foundation before transitioning into a dry finish with a lingering, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, oily texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but well-integrated and restrained alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
