Future Brewing’s Poke Boy is a vibrant American IPA that exemplifies the modern Cali interpretation through a complex, triple-dry-hopped profile. The hop bill is front and center, led by the dank, resinous qualities of Simcoe and the multifaceted berry and tropical notes of Mosaic. Nectaron adds intense stone fruit and peach sweetness, while Nelson provides a distinct white wine and crushed gooseberry finish. The base remains lean and pale to emphasize a crisp, dry finish. It delivers a refreshing, hop-saturated experience with a firm, integrated bitterness that defines the style's refreshing West Coast roots.
Appearance. Pale gold (approx. 6-7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma displaying notes of pine resin, grapefruit, and passion fruit. Subtle dank and earthy undertones are present alongside a bouquet of white grape and stone fruit. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral backdrop.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-dominant with flavors of citrus zest and resin. Tropical fruit and peach notes emerge mid-palate, supported by a very low cracker-like malt character. High hop bitterness is firm and clean. The finish is decidedly dry and crisp with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. High carbonation leads to a crisp mouthfeel. Alcohol provides a very light, well-integrated warmth without harshness.
