Plako presents an immersive sensory experience that captures the essence of a modern Double IPA. The aromatic profile is dominated by a heavy saturation of Citra and Citra Cryo, delivering waves of bright lime zest and pink grapefruit. This citrus foundation is layered with the white wine and crushed gooseberry notes of Nelson, while Nectaron adds intense stone fruit and pineapple complexity. Despite its strength, the beer maintains a lush, creamy mouthfeel typical of a juicy collaboration between Future and Track. The finish balances a saturated hop oils sensation with a clean, supportive malt backbone, ensuring high drinkability despite its potent aromatic intensity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Large, persistent, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing. Slight haze consistent with heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Vivid notes of passion fruit, peach, and pineapple from Nectaron combined with pungent grapefruit and lime from Citra. Distinctive white grape and gooseberry notes from Nelson provide a vinous complexity. Low, neutral, crackery malt in the background. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical and citrus fruit. Strong hop flavors mirror the aroma, featuring nectarine, lime pith, and sauvignon blanc grapes. High but smooth bitterness (approx. 70 IBU) that lacks harshness. Malt is low and supportive, providing a neutral grainy base. Dries out significantly in the finish with a long, fruity, and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a lush, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth that provides a smooth glow without being hot. Low astringency despite the high hop saturation.
