Future Brewing Future Island
Future Island is a luminous Hazy IPA that exemplifies the triple dry-hopped profile through an intense interplay of Southern Hemisphere hops. The aroma is dominated by the crushed lime and lemon zest of Motueka, alongside the pungent passionfruit and peach notes characteristic of Galaxy. Nelson Sauvin provides a sophisticated layer of white wine grape and gooseberry. On the palate, the beer delivers a lush, juice-like experience where these tropical flavors meld with a soft, bready malt backbone. The triple dry-hopping results in a remarkably creamy and soft mouthfeel, finishing with a restrained bitterness and an off-dry, tropical fruit persistence.
Appearance. Pours a deep straw to golden-orange with a thick, opaque haze that creates a vibrant glow. Crowned by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity tropical and citrus notes. Fresh lime and lemon curd from Motueka lead into heady passionfruit, pineapple, and stone fruit from Galaxy. Distinctive Nelson accents of gooseberry and white wine are prominent. The malt presents as a neutral, lightly bready backdrop without toast or caramel.
Taste. Massive tropical fruit flavors of passionfruit, mango, and lime take center stage. The mid-palate reveals the white grape and crushed berry complexity of Nelson. Malt flavor is low, providing a simple, grainy support. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as soft and smooth, leading into a clean, fruit-forward, off-dry finish without any hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably soft, pillowy texture and creamy consistency. Carbonation is moderate. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 7% ABV. No astringency or raw starch graininess.
