Funky Fluid

This Modern Black Polish IPA offers a striking interplay between deep roasted malts and an expressive profile of native Polish hops. On the nose, Zula provides vivid layers of tropical fruit and citrus, while Amora Preta adds distinct notes of dark berries and melon. The presence of Książęcy introduces a refined floral and herbal complexity, grounding the brighter fruit notes. The palate balances restrained chocolate and light coffee accents from debittered malts against a firm, clean bitterness. Smooth and surprisingly drinkable, it showcases a sleek, dry finish where the unique fruit-forward character of the Polish hops harmonizes with a subtle, toasty backbone.

Appearance. Opaque black (approx. 35 SRM) with a dense, persistent light tan head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is excellent, showing deep ruby highlights when held to light.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring ripe melon, blackcurrant, and stone fruit from Amora Preta and Zula, complemented by an elegant herbal and floral lift. Subtle notes of milk chocolate and toasted bread reside in the background. Clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial punch of tropical fruit and berries gives way to a smooth, restrained malt middle of light chocolate and cold-brew coffee. Medium-high bitterness is assertive but lacks harshness or ashiness. The finish is dry and crisp, with lingering notes of citrus zest and herbal spice from the Książęcy hops.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a lively lift. A very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. No astringency from the dark malts.
