This Double IPA radiates an intense hop-forward character, driven by a sophisticated blend of Mosaic and Krush hops. Utilizing Hyperboost extract alongside traditional pellets, the beer delivers a concentrated sensory experience of overripe mango, bright citrus zest, and a distinct white grape note. The 18 Plato base provides a supportive, soft malt foundation that balances the assertive bitterness without feeling heavy. It is a modern expression of the style, emphasizing saturation and depth of fruit character while maintaining the clean, punchy profile of a strong American ale, finishing with a lingering resinous complexity and smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7-9 SRM). Opaque to heavy haze with a thick, persistent, creamy white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pungent tropical fruit, guava, and blueberry from the Mosaic, alongside tangerine, lime, and floral grape notes from the Krush. Malt character is low and neutral, providing a soft doughy background. Fermentation is clean with very subtle peach esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical fruit and crushed berries. The bitterness is firm and solid, providing a necessary counterpoint to the soft, doughy malt sweetness. The mid-palate reveals complex citrus zest and herbal grape skins. The finish is medium-dry with a long-lasting hop resin and fruit-pith aftertaste, lacking any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety, and almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. Low astringency despite the high hop load.
