Despite its lower ABV, the beer maintains the assertive bitterness characteristic of a classic American IPA. The malt profile is intentionally restrained, leaning into a grainy, crisp foundation that allows hop-derived notes of grapefruit and resin to remain at the forefront. It finishes exceptionally dry, with a lingering spicy-hop tingle that invites another sip, embodying a refreshing yet punchy sensory profile.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, off-white head with good persistence and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high hop aroma featuring citrus zest and pine resin. A notable spicy, peppery graininess from the Rye is present, supported by low, clean, grainy maltiness. Fermentation profile is clean and neutral.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of grapefruit and resin. The Rye provides a distinctive spicy, earthy flavor that cuts through the light malt base. Medium-high bitterness leads to a very dry, clean finish. Aftertaste is hoppy and slightly spicy.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing prickle on the tongue. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
