Calexico is a vibrant American IPA that captures the quintessential West Coast spirit with a bright golden-amber hue. The sensory experience is led by prominent resinous pine and deep earthy hop notes, creating a profile that is both rugged and refreshing. While the hop character is assertive, splashes of caramel malt emerge to provide a balanced, toasted sweetness that rounds out the palate. It finishes with a firm, clean bitter bite that defines the style's refreshing nature. This medium-bodied ale remains crisp and well-integrated, showcasing a classic interplay between resinous hops and supportive malt depth.

Appearance. Bright golden-amber (approximately 9-11 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves decorative lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by resinous pine and earthy, spicy notes. Supportive low to medium-low malt character features splashes of caramel and light toast. Fermentation profile is very clean, allowing the woodsy hop character to remain the focus.

Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with strong flavors of pine needles and damp earth. A grainy-sweet malt backbone provides splashes of caramel and bready toast for balance. Bitterness is medium-high to high, providing a sharp but clean bite. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a refreshing and crisp mouthfeel. A very subtle, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
