Berlin Sonnets is a vibrant Hazy IPA characterized by an explosion of New World hops. This collaboration highlights the synergy of Mosaic, Loral, Sabro, and El Dorado to create a profile reminiscent of freshly squeezed juice. It leads with intense, pithy grapefruit and bright citrus, supported by a distinctive coconut creaminess driven by the Sabro. El Dorado adds layers of tropical stone fruit, while Mosaic provides a complex berry backdrop. Loral rounds out the profile with a subtle floral nuance. The experience is plush and soft, finishing with a restrained citrusy bitterness that ensures high drinkability and a smooth, lingering tropical aftertaste.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a luminous quality. Pours with a thick, meringue-like white head that shows high retention and leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring dominant grapefruit, pineapple, and mango. Distinctive coconut notes from Sabro are present alongside a subtle floral undertone. The malt is neutral, presenting as lightly bready or grainy, while the fermentation character is clean with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with layers of tropical fruit, citrus, and creamed coconut. Malt flavor is low and grainy-sweet. Bitterness is medium-low, perceived as soft and well-integrated. The finish is off-dry and smooth, featuring a clean, fruity aftertaste without any hop harshness or astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Very light alcohol warmth is well-integrated. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel lacking any raw starch or acidic twang.
