Fish Transistor is a vibrant Hazy IPA that exemplifies the modern, juicy profile typical of Berlin’s Fuerst Wiacek. Massive double dry-hopped additions of Citra and Eclipse create an aromatic explosion of ripe mango, passion fruit, and distinct mandarin orange zest. On the palate, the Eclipse hops contribute a deep citrus peel complexity that perfectly complements the tropical punch of the Citra. A soft, pillowy malt base of light bready grains supports the intense hop flavors while maintaining a restrained bitterness. The finish is smooth and off-dry, leaving a lingering impression of fresh fruit juice and delicate pine.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (4 SRM). Opaque with a characteristic hazy shine. Pours with a thick, meringue-like white head that shows excellent retention and leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics dominated by tropical and citrus fruit. Pronounced notes of mango, lime, and passion fruit from the Citra pairing with a bright, sweet mandarin and orange peel character from the Eclipse. Background notes of bready, neutral malt with no caramel or toast present.
Taste. Immediate impact of sweet tropical fruit and citrus oil. The flavor mirrors the aroma with layers of mandarin, grapefruit, and stone fruit. Bitterness is low to moderate, serving only to balance the soft, grainy malt sweetness. The finish is clean and juicy, lacking any hop harshness or astringency, characterized by a smooth, lingering fruitiness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky texture. Moderate carbonation enhances the juicy sensation. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its 6.8% ABV, but no harshness or heavy viscosity.
