To celebrate a decade of brewing, this Imperial Stout presents a decadent sensory experience shaped by an ambitious triple-barrel aging program. The base beer’s deep roasted chocolate and coffee notes are enveloped by the sophisticated influence of Cognac, Mirabella Whiskey, and Barbados Rum barrels. Aromas of dark plum, raisin, and spicy oak lead into a thick, velvety palate layered with rich caramel, molasses, and a complex spirituous warmth. The interplay of charred malt bitterness and barrel-derived sweetness creates a harmonious, lingering finish. This anniversary pour is a bold, opulent journey through dried fruits and warm spices, showcasing masterful integration and smooth viscosity.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a dense, persistent dark tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. Pronounced legs are visible upon swirling, indicating high viscosity and alcohol concentration.
Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Initial waves of bittersweet chocolate and espresso roast are followed by heavy esters of prune, fig, and black currant. The barrel character is prominent, contributing notes of spiced oak, vanilla, toasted coconut, and a refined vinous quality from the Cognac and Rum.
Taste. The initial impression is a rich explosion of dark chocolate and burnt sugar. Mid-palate reveals layers of caramel and spicy whiskey, alongside the tropical molasses sweetness of Barbados rum. Hop bitterness is firm but balanced by the massive malt backbone and barrel sugars. The finish is long and warming, featuring lingering notes of dark fruit, charred oak, and a smooth spirit character.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer's creamy weight. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated, providing a gentle glow without being sharp.
