Lapwing is a refreshing, session-strength Farmhouse Ale that balances traditional Belgian rustic charm with a vibrant dry-hopped edge. At 4% ABV, this table-style Saison leads with an aromatic bouquet of cracked black pepper and zesty citrus fruit esters. The traditional base provides a soft, grainy malt foundation that allows the extra dry hopping to shine, introducing intensified floral and earthy notes alongside a crisp, moreish bitterness. Effervescent and highly attenuated, it finishes exceptionally dry, delivering a clean, peppery snap that highlights its rustic, artisanal roots while remaining light and immensely approachable for contemporary palates.
Appearance. Pale gold in color with a slight haze from being unfiltered. Features a dense, rocky, long-lasting white head with excellent Belgian lacing and high effervescence.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring a mix of citrus fruit esters and spicy, peppery yeast phenolics. The dry-hop addition contributes distinct floral and earthy hop notes that complement the light, grainy malt background.
Taste. Begins with a soft, grainy malt palate followed by an assertive balance of fruity esters and peppery spice. Hop flavor is moderate with floral and spicy notes. Bitterness is medium-high, leading into a very dry, clean, and moreish finish with a lingering spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied with very high carbonation, creating an effervescent and prickly sensation. Smooth with no alcohol warmth and low astringency.
