This collaboration with Winery Dr. Loosen presents a refined Grape Ale that bridges the gap between sparkling wine and traditional brewing. Pale gold and effervescent, it leads with an aromatic profile of Riesling must, offering notes of white peach, green apple, and a delicate floral lift. The base of Pilsner malt provides a crisp, crackery canvas for the fruit to shine. True to its name, a subtle vinous oxidation lends a sophisticated honeyed depth and nutty complexity, reminiscent of a dry sherry. It finishes exceptionally dry and refreshing, with a lively carbonation that emphasizes its elegant, vinous character.
Appearance. Pale gold (5 SRM) with excellent clarity and a fine-beaded white head that shows moderate to low retention, typical of the style's high fruit acid content.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring elegant Riesling grape characteristics—green apple, white floral notes, and apricot. Underlying Pilsner malt provides a neutral, crackery base. Esters are restrained and peppery, with no hop aroma and a hint of nutty oxidation.
Taste. Initial flavors of tart grape skin and stone fruit evolve into a complex mid-palate of honey and almond. Malt presence is supportive but lean. Bitterness is very low, allowing a crisp, wine-like acidity to drive the balance toward a bone-dry, clean, and lingering vinous finish.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation providing a prickly, champagne-like texture. Very low astringency and a mild, well-integrated alcohol warmth that enhances the dry finish.
