Roast King is a formidable Imperial Stout that presents a deep sensory journey anchored by a robust grain bill of Maris Otter and Munich malts. The appearance is midnight black and dense, yielding aromas of freshly roasted coffee and cacao layered with subtle red fruit esters. On the palate, a complex interplay of Chocolate malt and Caramel malts provides a decadent base for flavors of spicy black pepper and a surprising flash of citrus. Assertive earthy and floral notes from Challenger and East Kent Goldings hops balance the massive body, leading to a sophisticated, lingering finish of vanilla, dark chocolate, and licorice.
