Freaks Brewing Cereal KIller
Cereal Killer is a vibrant Specialty IPA that balances a complex malt bill of Pale Ale and Carapils with a sharp, peppery punch of Rye. This clear, assertive ale leads with high-intensity aromas of mandarin and orange, evolving into a resinous, pine-forward palate. While a touch of Chocolate malt adds subtle depth and color, the profile remains firmly hop-centric and bitter. The rye provides a unique spicy crispness that accentuates the citrus flavors, resulting in a dry, lingering finish that masks its 6.2% ABV with remarkable drinkability, staying true to its character as a spicy, citrusy rye-driven India Pale Ale.
Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (SRM 25-35), displaying brilliant clarity despite its depth. Topped with a moderate, persistent light tan head that leaves fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop character featuring dominant resinous pine, orange peel, and mandarin. The malt profile provides a moderate background of spicy rye and toasty graininess with very low hints of chocolate.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, citrusy hop burst of orange and mandarin followed by a firm resinous bitterness. The malt backbone offers a medium-low spicy rye flavor and toasted bread notes, with restrained chocolate that never turns ashy. Finishes dry and slightly off-dry with a lingering, clean bitterness and a touch of peppery rye spice.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture likely enhanced by the rye. Moderate carbonation and a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
