Twisted Transistor is an intense Double IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile from the use of Mosaic BBC and Vic Secret. The sensory experience is dominated by high-intensity aromas of ripe mango, passion fruit, and the signature blueberry character of Mosaic BBC, underpinned by sharp pineapple and resinous pine from the Vic Secret. Despite its 10.2% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a clean, lean malt backbone that allows the firm bitterness to shine. The palate is saturated with tropical fruit and citrus oils, finishing medium-dry with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth and a lingering, resinous hop finish.
Appearance.Deep gold to light copper (8 SRM) with a very slight, modern hop haze. It supports a thick, persistent, off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma.High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring pungent notes of crushed pineapple, passion fruit, and mixed berries. Clean, neutral grainy malt is subtle in the background, while the fermentation profile remains very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and resinous hop flavors. High bitterness is firm but lacks harshness, balanced by a soft, bready malt character. Hop flavors of blueberry and grapefruit zest lead into a medium-dry finish with a clean, lingering hoppy aftertaste. Alcohol is present but smooth.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a soft, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable, pleasant alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot, and there is no hop-derived astringency.
