Tidal by FrauGruber Brewing is an assertive Double IPA that showcases a saturated hop profile. The use of Citra and Mosaic drives intense layers of ruby grapefruit and ripe mango, while HBC 586 introduces complex tropical notes of guava and stone fruit. Centennial provides a foundational floral and resinous depth, grounding the more volatile fruit characteristics. Its pale gold pour supports a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the hop-derived bitterness to take center stage without being harsh. At 8.6% ABV, it presents a smooth, well-integrated warmth that enhances the lingering finish of tropical pith and pine.

Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (approx. 7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing. Clarity is good, showing only a very slight haze characteristic of modern hopping rates.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, lime, and tropical mango from the Citra and HBC 586. Mosaic adds a complex berry and stone fruit layer, while Centennial contributes a noticeable floral and piney resin. Malt character is very low, appearing as a clean, neutral graininess.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and citrus hop flavor, mirroring the aroma with mango and grapefruit zest. The bitterness is firm and moderately high but remains clean and smooth. Malt flavor is unobtrusive and supportive, with a soft, crackery quality. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste. No harshness or astringency.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that aids drinkability. A light, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no solvent or hot sensations.
