FrauGruber Brewing Superstition
This massive Double India Pale Ale delivers an explosive tropical escape, saturated by intensive triple dry-hopping. Aromas of sun-drenched stone fruit and caramelized pineapple burst forward, driven by the fresh charge of Nectaron and Galaxy hops. On the palate, Citra and Mosaic hops unleash layers of ripe passion fruit, mango, and bright citrus oils, floating over a soft, supportive, and clean malt base. Despite its hefty strength, the beer maintains remarkable drinkability, finishing with a balanced, resinous bitterness and a smooth, warming alcohol presence. It is a decadent, velvety, and intensely aromatic showcase of modern hop artistry.
Appearance. Color is a luminous deep gold to light orange. It displays a slight, persistent yeast and hop-derived haze, crowned by a dense, rocky, off-white head with excellent retention that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Intensity is high, dominated by a luxurious bouquet of tropical and stone fruits. Distinctive notes of sweet passion fruit, ripe peach, and freshly cut pineapple mingle with citrus zest and a touch of resinous pine, backed by a clean, neutral, light bready malt character and a very soft, smooth alcohol warmth.
Taste. An explosion of juicy hop flavors echoes the tropical aroma with vivid notes of pineapple, mango, and stone fruit. Bitterness is moderately high but remarkably smooth, devoid of harshness. A clean, subtle, bready malt support keeps the beer from feeling thin, finishing medium-dry with a lingering, pleasant citrus and resinous aftertaste and a well-integrated alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but clean and well-rounded alcohol warmth is present, without any harshness, solvent quality, or hop-derived astringency.
