This Imperial Stout presents an indulgent sensory experience, merging deep roasted complexity with the tropical richness of coconut flakes and the floral, creamy depth of Tahitian chocolate. The aroma leads with intense notes of dark cocoa and macaroon-like sweetness, supported by a rich foundation of espresso and scorched grain. On the palate, the decadent flavors of bittersweet chocolate and oily coconut dominate, balanced by a firm bitterness and the noticeable, smooth warmth of its high alcohol content. It finishes with a lingering, velvety sweetness and a hint of dark fruit esters, embodying a harmonious, dessert-like intensity while maintaining its robust, roasted malt core.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention and leaves significant lacing. High viscosity is apparent through visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant notes of toasted coconut and fudgy Tahitian chocolate. Supporting aromas of roasted coffee, black licorice, and dark chocolate. Low esters suggestive of prunes and raisins. Alcohol is noticeable but pleasant and smooth, not sharp.
Taste. Intense initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and sweet coconut flakes. A deep malt profile provides flavors of toasted bread and dark fruit. Bitterness is moderate to firm, cutting through the residual sweetness to prevent a cloying finish. Complexity is high, featuring layers of cocoa, espresso, and a hint of vanilla-like floral character. The finish is lingering and warm with a sweet, roasty aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated. No harsh astringency.
