FrauGruber’s Liquid Refreshment reimagines the classic Munich Helles as a vibrant, contemporary lager. It maintains a traditional foundation of grainy-sweet malt and a clean fermentation profile, but distinguishes itself through a deliberate infusion of Citra BBC and El Dorado hops. The Citra BBC delivers bright notes of lime zest and zesty citrus, while El Dorado introduces subtle tropical hints of mango and stone fruit. At 4.9% ABV, it remains exceptionally crushable, balancing the soft malt backbone with a modern hop brightness that lingers through a smooth, dry finish, offering a refreshing, fruit-forward twist on the style.
Appearance. Pale gold (3-5 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Persistent, creamy white head with moderate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity. Dominant grainy-sweet malt aroma with honeyed undertones. Modern Citra BBC character brings distinct lime and grapefruit citrus, complemented by El Dorado's subtle pineapple and pear notes. Clean fermentation profile with no sulfur or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial soft, grainy-sweet maltiness with a rounded palate impression. Moderate hop flavor featuring tropical and citrus notes rather than traditional spice. Low bitterness (approx. 18-20 IBU) provides enough support to keep the balance malty but not sweet. Finishes soft and dry with a clean, lingering malt aftertaste.
