This Double IPA showcases an intense hop profile driven by the vibrant citrus and tropical fruit characteristics of Citra BBC, complemented by the complex, resinous berry and passion fruit notes of Strata. It pours a deep gold with a persistent white head. The aroma is saturated with grapefruit and a hint of dankness, supported by a clean, neutral, grainy malt backbone. On the palate, a firm but smooth bitterness balances the 8.2% alcohol, leading to a dry, crisp finish. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and silky, avoiding heavy sweetness to ensure high drinkability despite its potent strength and layered hop complexity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange color (8 SRM). Moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with good lacing. Slight haze is present, though generally clear.
Aroma. Prominent to intense hop aroma featuring grapefruit, mango, and tropical fruit from Citra BBC, alongside passion fruit and a light resinous dankness from Strata. Low, clean, grainy maltiness in the background with a neutral fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of citrus zest, tropical fruit, and light strawberry. Moderately high bitterness that is firm but smooth, lacking any harshness. Low, clean, supportive malt character with a soft cracker-like quality. Very dry finish with a lingering hoppy, bitter aftertaste and a light, clean alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate carbonation. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
