Getting Nasty by FrauGruber is a vibrant Hazy IPA that leads with an intense tropical profile. The strategic use of Motueka hops imparts a distinctive burst of fresh lime zest and mojito-like citrus, which is layered over the heavy passionfruit, peach, and pineapple notes characteristic of Galaxy. A soft, bready malt foundation provides a neutral canvas for these New World hop expressions. The sensory experience is defined by a pillowy, juice-like texture and a restrained bitterness that allows the lush fruit flavors to linger through a smooth, off-dry finish without any hop harshness.
Appearance. Straw to light orange (4-6 SRM) with a deep, opaque haze that produces a characteristic shine. It is topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of lime and lemon-lime from Motueka alongside pungent passionfruit, peach, and mango from Galaxy. Malt is secondary, presenting as lightly bready and grainy, while fermentation is clean with subtle fruity esters.
Taste. High to very high fruity hop flavors dominated by citrus oils and tropical stone fruit. Low to medium-low bready malt flavor provides necessary balance. Perceived bitterness is low to medium-low and well-integrated, leading to an off-dry finish where the tropical fruit character persists without being cloying.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky, and smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its 6.8% ABV, and it lacks any astringency or hop burn.
