FrauGruber Brewing’s Four Horsemen is a formidable Double IPA that exemplifies the balance between modern hop intensity and high-ABV drinkability. This pour bursts with an intense hop profile characterized by layers of ripe tropical fruit, zesty citrus, and clean resinous pine. A supportive, neutral grainy malt backbone allows the hops to dominate without the heavy caramel weight often found in stronger ales. The fermentation is exceptionally clean, providing a canvas for hop-derived berry and stone fruit notes to shine through. It finishes crisp and dry, leaving a lingering, firm bitterness and a gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth that invites another sip.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (SRM 7-10) with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing; clarity is good, though a slight modern haze is present.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, grapefruit, and resinous pine over a low, neutral grainy malt base; subtle fruity esters are present with a hint of smooth, non-solventy alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is of dominant citrus zest and tropical melon hop flavors, met with a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth and non-astringent. The malt character is clean and unobtrusive, providing a soft background for a dry finish and a long-lasting, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture; medium-high carbonation provides a lively lift on the palate, while the alcohol presents a restrained, warming sensation without harshness.

FrauGruber – Four Horsemen. Ezno Frauenschuh y Matthias Gruber no eran de esos tipos que se complican la vida. Por eso estos amigos de la infancia, además de dedicarse a hacer lo que mejor se les daba, decidieron bautizar su proyecto fusionando sus dos apellidos. Simplificaron todo para poder centrarse en hacer cervezas de corte americano. Porque estos FrauGruber están más alejados de la ley de la pureza alemana que Rammstein de tocar en una boda católica. Destaca la importancia que le da Enzo, el maestro cervecero, a un elemento poco conocido de la cerveza: la levadura. Elemento que, según él, tiene un gran impacto en el sabor final de la cerveza. Están instalados en la antigua fábrica de Camba en Gundelfingen (Augsburgo).
