FrauGruber’s Coconapple is a high-gravity evolution of the Gose style, delivering an intense tropical sensory experience. It presents an opaque, hazy yellow appearance with a frothy white head. The aroma is highly intense, characterized by creamy coconut and vibrant pineapple puree, layered over a foundation of bready wheat and a hint of citrusy coriander. The palate is defined by a refreshing lactic tartness that cuts through the rich tropical fruit flavors, while a light sea salt presence provides a tingly, mouthwatering finish. Although the 9% ABV provides a significant, well-integrated warmth, the beer maintains the style's signature drinkability through its bright acidity and effervescent carbonation.
Appearance. SRM 3-4. Deep yellow to pale gold with a significant, persistent haze from wheat and fruit purees. Features a moderate, frothy white head with good retention and fine effervescence.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by sweet, creamy coconut and juicy pineapple. Secondary notes include sharp lactic acidity and doughy, bready wheat malt. A very light, citrusy coriander note lingers in the background. No hop aroma or esters beyond the added fruit.
Taste. Initial burst of tropical pineapple acidity followed by rich coconut. Medium-high lactic sourness provides a refreshing backbone. Malt is bready and doughy. Bitterness is very low, allowing acidity to balance the malt and fruit. A light but definite salt character appears mid-palate, enhancing the fruit flavors. The finish is tart and fruity with a lingering, clean acidity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body, significantly more substantial than a standard Gose due to high alcohol and fruit solids. Carbonation is high and effervescent. Noticeable alcohol warmth is present. The salt provides a tingly, mouthwatering quality and a rounded mouthfeel.
