Back Again is an assertive Double IPA that showcases an explosive interplay of modern hop varieties. The aromatic profile is dominated by the complex berry and tropical notes of Mosaic BBC, layered with the intense stone fruit and pineapple punch characteristic of Nectaron. Despite its potent 9.8% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability through a lean malt structure that allows the hop saturation to shine. A firm, clean bitterness balances the initial rush of passionfruit and citrus, leading into a dry, resinous finish. This is a bold, sensory-forward expression of contemporary hop intensity and fermentation precision.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (7-10 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Generally clear, though a very slight hop haze is present given the heavy hopping rate.
Aroma. Intensity is high, featuring a complex bouquet of blueberry and tropical fruit from the Mosaic BBC, alongside potent peach and passionfruit notes from the Nectaron. Very low, neutral grainy malt in the background. Esters are low and fruit-forward, with a clean, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors. High hop bitterness is firm but smooth, lacking harshness. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, providing just enough support for the hop saturation. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous, and fruity hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate to high. A noticeable, restrained alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 9.8% strength without being hot or solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
