This American IPA presents a vibrant tapestry of Pacific Northwest hop character, led by the citrus-forward punch of Citra and Cryo Citra. Mosaic and Simcoe contribute layers of tropical berry and pine resin, while Chinook and Cascade add a firm, spicy grapefruit backbone. The malt profile is complex for the style, utilizing Munich T1 and Melanoidin to provide a bready, toasted foundation that balances the assertive bitterness. Dextrose ensures a crisp, dry finish, allowing the hop oils to linger with a clean, resinous intensity against a background of light caramel and honey-like notes from the Carahell and Caramunich T2 malts.
Appearance. Medium gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 8-10 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit zest, tropical blueberry, and resinous pine. Low to medium-low maltiness presents as toasted bread and light caramel. Clean fermentation profile with no significant yeast esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and assertive. Strong flavors of citrus, pine, and tropical fruit dominate. Medium-high to high bitterness is well-integrated and supported by a grainy, toasted malt backbone with subtle caramel sweetness. The balance is decidedly bitter. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily hop texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing bite. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
