Mortal Bloom is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures an intense bouquet of tropical fruit and bright citrus. Pouring with a characteristic luminous haze, the sensory experience is led by waves of pineapple, mango, and zesty orange notes. Founders delivers a soft, pillowy mouthfeel that carries these fruity hop flavors across the palate without the aggressive bitterness found in traditional West Coast styles. A clean, bready malt backbone provides structural support while remaining unobtrusive. Appearance. Luminous straw to light gold (4-5 SRM) with a deep, opaque haze that creates a characteristic shine. Topped by a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick, decorative lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by ripe tropical fruit, specifically mango and pineapple, alongside bright citrus notes of tangerine and sweet orange. The malt profile is low and supportive, offering a clean, bready, and slightly grainy character. Esters are fruity and well-integrated with the hop profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical fruit and citrus zest. High hop flavors feature passion fruit and citrus oil. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as low due to the soft body and off-dry finish. Malt flavors are subtle, providing a bready base. The fermentation is clean with light fruit esters that enhance the hops. The aftertaste is smooth and fruity, lacking any sharp bite.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture that avoids being heavy or cloying. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is light and well-integrated. There is no detectable astringency or harshness.
