Founders Azacca IPA showcases the singular Azacca hop variety in a vibrant American IPA. It pours a striking burnt orange, leading with an intense, tropical bouquet defined by ripe mango, bright citrus, and subtle orchard fruit. A foundational layer of Caramel malt provides a sweet, toasty backbone that balances the assertive, clean bitterness. On the palate, the fruit-forward hop profile remains the centerpiece, supported by a smooth malt structure and a clean fermentation profile. This well-integrated 7% ABV ale finishes dry and crisp, leaving a lingering impression of resinous tropical fruit and refined hop character.
Appearance. Pours a burnt orange color (approximately 10-12 SRM). Displays good clarity with a medium-sized, off-white head that shows good persistence and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent mango and pineapple notes from the Azacca hops, alongside citrus peel and orchard fruit. A moderate-low malt presence provides subtle caramel and toasted grain notes. Clean fermentation profile with negligible esters.
Taste. Bold hop-forward flavor profile dominated by tropical mango and citrus. A medium-low malt sweetness from the Caramel malt provides a supportive backbone against a medium-high to high bitterness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, clean, hoppy aftertaste of citrus and light resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, even texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being harsh or fusel.
